GO FOR BROKE
“Go For Broke” was the motto of the 442nd regimental combat team, a WWII army unit comprised of Japanese American volunteers who served the United States during a time of world war and domestic distrust. Giving everything they had
with their steadfast commitment and indomitable spirit, the “Go For Broke” unit won recognition as the most decorated unit of WWII, demonstrating their valor and loyalty even while many family members and friends were interned in relocation
camps across the United States.
The heroic deeds and personal sacrifices of the Go For Broke unit established historical benchmarks of honor, integrity, and determination. These are qualities we continue to support through this golf tournament and the Japanese American Community Graduation Program for high school graduates.
JAPANESE AMERICAN COMMUNITY GRADUATION PROGRAM
For 56 years the Japanese American Community Graduation Program has supported the community and our youth through the demonstration of perpetual community spirit and generosity. This self-supporting, non-profit organization is the only
program where the Denver Japanese American community collectively assists and encourages our young adults as they look to future successes.
This program provides a framework where more than 30 community, organization, and memorial awards are presented annually to our outstanding high school graduates. We are proud to acknowledge these youths and their accomplishments as they exemplify the principles and ideals of our community.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We are always looking for volunteers to help with the tournament. This tournament can’t happen without the volunteers. We are looking for volunteers for the Thursday night before the tournament and the day of the tournament. Shifts for Friday are 6am-Noon and Noon to 6pm. If you are interested in helping, please let us know.
