SCHOLARSHIPS FOR DENVER METROPOLITAN AREA JAPANESE
AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

I. This site includes scholarship application forms for three categories of awards:

1) Community Committee Awards
2) Community Service Awards
3) Individual/Memorial Awards.

The awards have monetary amounts ranging up to $3,000.00 or more. Any of these awards may be used at any college, vocational or technical school or any other institution to further your education.

Included are forms for:

1) Community Committee Awards (blue/Form A)
2)
Community Service Awards (yellow/Form B)
3)
Individual/Memorial Awards (pink/Form C)
4)
Booklet Cover Design Contest (white/Form D)

II. The Japanese American Community Graduation Program hosts a dinner for all eligible graduating high school seniors (whether or not they apply for an award) and their families. This year’s banquet will be held at the Arvada Center for the Arts & Humanities on Saturday, June 14, 2008. In order to contact as many ELIGIBLE GRADUATING SENIORS as possible, we need your help. Please send names, addresses, phone numbers and name of high school of any eligible student by March 7, 2008 to:

We are asking for assistance in identifying these eligible students. To be eligible a student must meet one of the following:

1) A graduating high school senior residing in the Denver Metropolitan area who is either an American citizen of Japanese ancestry or an American citizen who’s legal parent(s) is/are of Japanese ancestry, or

2) A graduating high school senior of Japanese ancestry residing in the Denver Metropolitan area who has permanent residence status (INS documentation) in the United States, or

3) A graduating high school senior who has a parent who is an active member of: Mile-Hi Japanese American Citizens League,  Simpson United Methodist Church, Tri-State/Denver Buddhist Temples, Denver Nisei Bowling Association, Brighton Japanese American Association, Japanese Association of Colorado, Nisei Veterans Heritage Foundation or Fort Lupton Japanese American Citizens League.

 

In addition, the Japanese American Community Graduation Program is requesting all high school graduates of Japanese ancestry to submit a wallet size photo for a photo collage to be displayed at the banquet with the following information:

1)      Name
2) Complete address
3) Phone number
4) High School
5) Parent’s names
