We are asking for assistance in identifying these eligible students. To be eligible a student must meet one of the following:

1) A graduating high school senior residing in the Denver Metropolitan area who is either an American citizen of Japanese ancestry or an American citizen who’s legal parent(s) is/are of Japanese ancestry, or

2) A graduating high school senior of Japanese ancestry residing in the Denver Metropolitan area who has permanent residence status (INS documentation) in the United States, or

3) A graduating high school senior who has a parent who is an active member of: Mile-Hi Japanese American Citizens League, Simpson United Methodist Church, Tri-State/Denver Buddhist Temples, Denver Nisei Bowling Association, Brighton Japanese American Association, Japanese Association of Colorado, or Fort Lupton Japanese American Citizens League.

ANNOUNCEMENTS OF SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE

1, Enclosed is a fact sheet about the availability of scholarships for graduating seniors. Please see the enclosed application for eligibility requirements. Both academic and non academic scholarships are available.

2. Applications forms are enclosed. If more are needed, any photo copy or a reasonable facsimile will be accepted. All applications, essays and transcripts MUST BE POSTMARKED ON OR BEFORE APRIL 4, 2008.  There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this deadline.

3. College counselors are requested to post the attached announcement poster on a bulletin board.

4. College counselors are requested to encourage high school seniors interested in art or photography to submit an entry in the design contest for the cover of the program booklet for the banquet. Rules and regulations are enclosed. Students may submit a design whether or not they apply for a scholarship.
